PERSONALITY
Percy is someone who does an excellent job of seeming like his has his shit together. On the surface, he appears every inch the gentleman -- even after years of adventuring he makes a point of dressing nicely, when possible, and he holds himself like someone who's had good posture and noble bearing trained into him from an early age. And despite not being the most talkative, to the point of seeming a bit reticent at times, once engaged Percy can be very charming. He's intelligent, witty, philosophical and erudite, all things that come across very quickly. Percy isn't the fast talker of his team, they have a bard for that, but when they need to appear respectable, Percy is the one who steps up to prove it.
And while all of that is true, in actuality Percy is significantly younger than he tends to act. In fact, his actual age combined with his intelligence and the privilege he grew up with all add up to one of his besetting sins -- that he frequently believes himself to be the only adult in the room. While he's not immune to advice, and will happily step aside for someone with skills or knowledge he doesn't have, if left unchecked Percy is generally convinced that he knows best and will act accordingly. Usually it just ends up in him exasperatedly arguing his position, because of course he's right, but it does also occasionally result in him taking steps it hasn't occurred to him to tell anyone else about.
Actually, there's a surprisingly large streak of recklessness in him, for someone who appears so buttoned up. He may take some time to weigh his options or he may not, but when Percy makes a decision, he goes all in with it. Whether it's something as silly as winning a canonball contest (via the use of raw sodium -- injuring himself in the process, because why not) or as focused as spending an entire night building something as an apology or as dark as the years he spent planning revenge for the destruction of his family, Percy can be no holds barred once he gets going. He won't start fights, but he will end them.
Which is not something to be taken lightly. Percy is a vicious fighter, and not just because his weapons of choice are things no one in his world has ever seen before. He can be both pragmatic and ruthless, and he will hit precisely where it will hurt the most, even if it's not necessarily where it will cause the most damage. And that's when he's calm. Get him angry enough and he may not stop shooting until his opponent stops moving, and maybe not even then. Percy's rage tends to be very cold, very focused, and very unsettling.
Of course, on his good days, he's also a massive dork. Percy is someone who genuinely loves knowledge, even if he has a habit of playing information about himself close to the chest. He likes the new and unexpected, and delights in getting to try new things. When he gets to visit the Feywild, a place he's read about since he was a child, he's practically giddy. But for the most part, Percy's sense of humor tends towards the dry and deadpan, which frequently sets him up as a straight-man, though he's not incapable of his own moments of ridiculousness. Really it's about whatever will amuse someone else the most.
Because Percy does genuinely care about people. He may not be the easiest to get to know, but one someone has gotten past his defenses, Percy is extremely protective and very devoted. He's not openly expressive and not very good at admitting it, but for the people he loves, he'll build extremely elaborate things to keep them safe, make a fool out of himself to amuse them, and quietly be as generous as he can. Even when they annoy the hell out of him, Percy will be there for them. And it isn't just his nearest and dearest, either. Maybe it's having grown up learning to be a lord, but Percy has a bit of a soft spot for protecting people. Not just their lives, but the way they live. If he has the chance, he wants to make that everyone within his reach is looked after and comfortable, if not happy.
Or maybe it has to do with the fact that Percy knows what it's like to lose everything. Because under everything else, under his meticulous appearance and careful skill, under the wordless caretaking and barely-leashed violence, there is something much, much darker. It's wrapped in a healthy dose of PTSD and survivor's guilt, and tinged with the fact that Percy is just coming to realize how much damage his choices have made and how wide spread those ripples are. There's a part of him that believes his soul is irreparably tainted, and not just from the literal pact with a demon he didn't realize he was making. He believes he's a coward for running, for leaving his sister behind to die, and the person he built himself into to get revenge is not a pleasant one. It's only the fact that he had his friends with him on his revenge quest that kept him from slipping completely, and even though he managed everything he set out to do, that darkness is still inside him. He refers to himself, only partially joking, as an evil magnet, and considers it his job to think up the worst, most pessimistic ideas so that no one else has to, but everyone realizes that they are an option.
There's more than one reason Percy isn't the most forthcoming about himself. But when the outward presentation is a perfect gentleman and a brilliant inventor, does he really need to be?

CANON
Tinkerer: Percy is an incredibly skilled inventor and craftsman, having built everything from firearms (the first in his world) to explosives to intricate jewelry. It also means that he's capable of understanding and repairing all sorts of mechanical devices.
Gunslinger: A fast and agile fighter, Percy is fairly good with a sword, but much prefers to stay long range if he can help it. His real skill is with his guns, with them he has almost uncanny aim and his familiarity with his own inventions means that he can reload incredibly quickly. He also occasionally has a tendency to ignore his own exhaustion in favor of attacking as many times as possible.
Magic Initiate: The last remnants of his unwitting pact with a demon, Percy is capable of casting three low-level spells: Hex, Minor Illusion, and Friends.
Nerd: Percy is highly intelligent, possessing not only an excellent memory for history, but a thirst for knowledge, as well as being a decent strategist and a surprisingly persuasive speaker.
